Dear sir/ madam,

I am writing to register my concern that a distressed inmate was given no care/ protection last night.

Between 11:15pm and 11:45pm I heard almost constant shouting from another inmate who was clearly highly distressed. My perception was that he was either being physically and/ or sexually attacked or was experiencing a traumatic flashback or psychotic episode.

The shouting included the following:

“Help – Help”

“No, please”

“Get your hands off me,

“Don’t hurt me”

“Please, please stop”

“Get away from me”

There were also many groans of pain and/ or discomfort. As far as I could tell, no staff intervened to protect him or to administer Mental Health First Aid.
